Asynchronous Airdrops – Three closes the series of three works, each set at a different time of day: night, sunset, and daytime. In daylight, the bands turn horizontal, like rain streaks running across a plane window in flight. They decide where a symbol palette, a blue dither, doubled stamps, or ASCII characters draw the clouds.
Asynchronous Airdrops is a mini series of three cloud animations. In each work, two versions of the same sky overlap, and only the rain reveals the second. The title joins two kinds of drops. Like rain, a crypto airdrop lands on many, invited or not. It also often arrives offset. A large airdrop lands block by block, and each wallet and marketplace decides when to show it.
Notably, the same seed draws the same clouds in every visualization mode, so switching modes changes the marks, never the sky. In the first composition, bands of colour decide which mode shows where. The second, cut into finer bands, appears only through the rain, with a few hundred to nearly a thousand drops on screen at a time. The rain continues a collaboration that began in 2020, when a sudden shower blurred the artist’s stamp marks during an art residency in Quebec.
