I am working on a new sculpture, one that will bring together several elements, including power plugs. So I spent a couple of hours sculpting a power plug from scratch.
Below is a behind-the-scenes peek: three screenshots from the process, each a stage further along.
There is something quietly fitting in the exercise. A power plug is designed to be overlooked, the most mundane point of contact between an object and the current that keeps it alive. Giving it hours of undivided attention reverses the hierarchy for a moment; the connector becomes the work.
More on the sculpture itself soon.
