Since 2020, when I began translating clouds in Python through tile sets of painted marks, stamp marks, and drawn shapes, much of my time has gone into tile-based visualization modes: cents, ASCII characters, halftone dots, dither, hatching, each a different vocabulary for the same sky. Until now, every export used one of them at a time.
This week I started combining them: a halftone background, masks cut by error diffusion, a blue dither, stamps doubled in rows and columns, ASCII running through the gaps, with columns of colour and streaks of rain deciding which mode shows where. The first exports are wild. Interestingly, modes that each read as calm on their own begin to interfere, and the cloud is legible only in the seams between them. More iterations to come.
