On a recent flight, I encountered a tropical thunderstorm and documented it from the plane. I have flown several hundred flights over the past decade and have seen my share of thunderstorms and hurricanes from above, but this was by far the most spectacular storm I have witnessed and recorded.
The frequency of the lightning was remarkable. Strike after strike lit the cloud system from within, until the entire formation seemed to glow on its own rhythm. Something to remember.
