For a while now, I have been feeding clouds into code. Videos and photographs of the sky, broken down and rebuilt in Python from sets of marks I make by hand: painted, stamped, drawn, then digitized. The results have always settled into a grid, one mark to a cell, orderly and rectangular.
Radial Translation is where I let go of that. Instead of rows and columns, the marks gather in rings around a single centre and open outward. It is a small change to describe and a larger one to sit with: the picture stops behaving like a screen and starts to behave like weather.
This is one of the first pieces to come out of that shift, and I suspect not the last. It is minted on OBJKT as an edition of 21.
