In Plain Sight is a new painting series exploring the fourth Bitcoin halving in 2024. The painting consists of four carefully placed building blocks, each halved in size in reference to Bitcoin’s fourth halving at block height 840,000 in April 2024. Using these building blocks, the parameters, dates, and values of the four halvings are embedded in the geometric shapes of the painting.
Artist Martin Lukas Ostachowski uses clouds as a symbol of Bitcoin. Clouds are in constant transformation, intangible, and symbolize hope. Many financial terms revolve around water, such as liquidity, cash flows, and revenue streams. Clouds simultaneously embody Bitcoin’s often neglected fragility. If people stopped believing in Bitcoin and disconnected their nodes, the network would dissolve like a cloud.
